- Police in India extract a thief from vent
By SCM Reporter
INDIA – A hapless housebreaker in India learned the hard way that he isn’t quite as nimble as Father Christmas after getting wedged solid in a family’s ventilation shaft.
The red-faced rogue was discovered dangling like a lost parcel when a family in Rajasthan returned home from a day out.
Expecting to find their living room exactly as they left it, the homeowners were instead greeted by a pair of legs kicking frantically from the ceiling.
Local police were called to the scene, not to give chase, but to perform an embarrassing extraction.
It is understood the would-be thief had spotted the narrow vent and thought it was his golden ticket into the property.
However, his “Mission Impossible” moment quickly turned into a “Mission Miserable” when his waistline proved a match for the masonry.
Officers and neighbors spent a significant amount of time coaching the sheepish intruder out of his concrete trap.
By the time he was finally freed, he was covered in soot, dust, and the crushing weight of his own failure.
The Rajasthan region, known for its stunning palaces and rugged desert terrain, has seen its fair share of daring raids, but locals are calling this the most “half-baked” heist in recent memory.
After being dusted off, the man was taken into custody, where he will likely face charges—and a lot of mockery from his fellow inmates.
Police confirmed that nothing was stolen from the home, mostly because the suspect spent his entire “shift” stuck between a rock and a hard place.
