LEKKI, Lagos – Tears flowed freely at the Vaults and Gardens at the Lekki Epe Expressway, where Lagos lawyer and property consultant, Omobolanle Raheem was laid to rest.
She was buried, three weeks after she was killed on Christmas day by ASP Drambi Vandi, attached to the Ajiwe Police Station, Ajah.
The pretty pregnant lawyer was making a turn under the bridge at Ajah, when the drunk, trigger happy police officer opened fire, killing her in the process. She was with her husband, a 7 year old daughter and relatives in the vehicle when the policeman opened fire on the vehicle.
The brief, solemn ceremony was held under strict instructions of the family that no one should take shots with their phone or camera.
Though it was to supposed to be a strictly private affair, a small crowd of sympathizers joined the family to bid the 41-year old lawyer and award-winning property developer farewell.
Prior to the burial, a funeral service was held at the Olive Tree Parish, of the RCCG, Banana Island Road, Ikoyi.
The preacher, Pastor Oke Enelama described the deceased as selfless who lived a short but impactful life. He urged the family to take solace in Jesus Christ at this trying period. Mrs Raheem who’s the first child of her parents left behind several loved ones including her mother.
Her killer, who is now being prosecuted has pleaded not guilty in the trial.
