July 7, 2015 – Members of the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday showered gifts and food items on Children of Divine Wounds Orphanage in Kubwa, Abuja.

They also pledged cash donations towards their education as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS).

The players donated food items like rice, milk, noodles, beverages, snacks and toiletries to take care of some of the children’s immediate needs.

Captain Vincent Enyeama, who spoke on behalf of his teammates, promised to donate his match allowance for Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad to the Orphanage, while Russia-based forward Ahmed Musa pledged N500,000 to the needy kids.

“We are doing these so that you can further your education. Of all possible investment that can be made in a child, the best is good education. “Life may have started with a slow pace but you need to understand that it is a privilege to have it in the first place and nothing should stop you from aspiring to be the best that you can be,” Enyeama who is 100 cap for the national team said

Speaking on behalf of his siblings in the Orphanage, Kingsley Ojo thanked the Super Eagles for their generosity and prayed for the team’s success in upcoming international engagements.

“God will bless you for this gesture because He loves those who give to the fatherless and less privileged cheerfully. The Super Eagles will continue to succeed in all their engagements from now on, by the Special Grace of God,” Ojo prayed.
