GAZA, Palestine – The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer has warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the consequences of further escalation in the Gaza Strip, stressing that his decision will worsen the humanitarian crisis and the plight of the captives.

Starmer who called on Netanyahu to reconsider his decision said his actions will neither end the conflict nor secure release of the captives held in Gaza.

“It will only bring more bloodshed”, Starmer warned.

He said that everyday the humanitarian crisis is getting worse while the captives are held in appalling and inhuman condition.

“What we need is a ceasefire, a surge in humanitarian aid, the release of all hostages by Hamas and a negotiated solution”he said adding that Hamas will play no part in the future of Gaza and must leave and disarm.

He said he is working with allies to secure a long term peace in the region as part of a two state solution and ultimately achieve a brighter future for Palestinians and Israelis.

He said the prospect of a brighter future for the two states is vanishing except Israel and Hamas engages in dialogue in good faith.

He said diplomatic solution is possible but both sides must step away from the path of destruction.
