March 29, 2015 – Epe was thrown into deep mourning on Sunday when news filtered in that the community has lost six residents in a boat mishap.
The incident is coming just a day after residents troop out to cast their votes in the Presidential and National Assembly election.
We gathered that the affected individuals were returning from a riverine area where they had gone to cast their votes when the boat conveying them capsized due to rough weather.
Among those dead is a prominent politician in the area as well as one of the children of the owner of the speed boat while a second child aboard the boat survived.
We gathered that some of the dead bodies have been recovered but divers were still at work trying to recover more dead bodies by Sunday afternoon.
