SAUDI ARABIA – Authority in Saudi Arabia has owned up admitting that Jamal Kashoggi, a citizen of Saudi Arabia was murdered. Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir who was speaking on Fox News said the journalist, a vocal critic of the crown prince was murdered and described the incident as a “tremendous mistake” but denied that the crown prince had ordered it.




He however attributed his death to a road operation and that those involved will be held responsible. He said the crown prince had offered his condolence to family of the deceased.

Jamal Kashoggi was murdered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul where he visited to perfect document for marriage to his fiancee, Hatice Cengiz. According to reports, he was murdered with nerve agent and that his body was dismembered. It is not clear how his body was removed from the consulate but the Saudi authority initially said Jamal Kashoggi exited the consulate through the back door.

Meanwhile, President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has vowed that in three days, he will reveal the whole truth concerning the murder of Jamal Kashoggi. He said that 15 people came into Istanbul from Saudi Arabia for the purpose of the murder as international condemnation trail the murder.

The European Union has also condemned the murder of the journalist in Istanbul on October 2 and expressed its deepest condolences to his family and friends.

“We reaffirm our commitment to the freedom of the press and the protection of journalists across the world”, the EU said, adding that the emerging circumstances of Jamal Khashoggi’s death are deeply troubling, including the shocking violation of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and particularly its Article 55. 

“Therefore the European Union, like its partners, insists on the need for continued thorough, credible and transparent investigation, shedding proper clarity on the circumstances of the killing and ensuring full accountability of all those responsible for it. The memory of Jamal Khashoggi, the family of the journalist as well as his friends deserve justice”, it said in a statement.
