ABUJA — The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), High Chief Seriake Dickson, has assured the party’s candidates and supporters across the country that strategic steps have been taken to address the non-publication of some candidates’ names by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Reacting to the recent publication of candidates’ lists by the electoral body, Senator Dickson clarified that all affected aspirants fulfilled every statutory requirement, including registering with the party well before the mandatory 21-day period stipulated by the Electoral Act.
Addressing party faithful, the former Bayelsa State Governor expressed confidence that the electoral umpire would correct what he described as an “apparent omission” without delay.
”Our candidates and supporters are assured that the party has been working diligently and has taken adequate steps to address the cases of those whose names were not published by INEC a few days ago,” Dickson stated.
He added: “All affected candidates registered with the party before the statutory 21-day period required by law. We urge INEC to remedy this apparent omission promptly.
From the Presidential election to the State Houses of Assembly, the NDC has fielded qualified candidates who emerged through a rigorous and painstaking screening process. We are confident that INEC will correct this omission without delay.”
Unabated Campaigns and Mobilization
Despite the temporary setback, the NDC National Leader urged members across all states and federal constituencies to sustain momentum, emphasizing that political activities must go on as scheduled.
”In the meantime, consultations, town hall meetings, mobilisation, and campaigns should continue unabated in all states and constituencies. We will continue to fight without giving up until we are victorious. NDC all the way,” he affirmed.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), founded under the leadership of Senator Seriake Dickson, has rapidly positioned itself as a major political platform heading into the general elections.
The party’s primary screening processes were designed to ensure that all candidates met both internal guidelines and legal thresholds required by electoral laws.
This is not the first instance where administrative or technological glitches have affected candidate uploads on the INEC portal, triggering concerns among political parties regarding administrative accuracy.
The NDC’s prompt engagement with the commission reflects ongoing efforts by major political stakeholders to ensure full legal compliance and administrative accountability ahead of the polls.
Party insiders indicate that leadership is in active engagement with INEC officials in Abuja to ensure the administrative records are updated and all qualified NDC candidates are fully reflected on official lists.
