LAGOS, Nigeria – The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Ojediran better known as Jandor has vowed that he will defeat Lagos State Governor and candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the 2023 general election.
Jandor who was speaking on Arise TV said he is not bothered that the River State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike endorsed Sanwo-Olu of APC, adding that during his campaign tour of Alimosho, people came out enmass to welcome him, stressing that the endorsement of one made no difference during the tour.
Jandor, who is a journalist, said some people are so poor that the only thing they have is money and that the money Jandor has is in the people, that nobody can buy.
He slammed the Lagos State governor that for four years, with budget of over four trillion, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has nothing to show and has not been able to invite any governor to commission any project in the state.
He said he wants to be governor because he wants to do things differently, adding that with the flooding around and Lagos with about 20 percent of land prone to flooding, he expects that the government would by now be building shelter for people.
“Now everything is happening and we are behaving as if nothing is happening, very soon they will open Oyo dam”, he said, wondering how the Lagos State Government will be able to live up to expectation when that happens.
He said that those who left the party for the APC, ie, Gbadamosi and Kunle Dabiri were mole in the PDP and that it was when he discovered that they were mole that he decided to be withholding sensitive information from them.
He also said he did not go into an agreement with the governorship candidate of Labour Party to be his deputy but that the agreement was between the candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Chief Olabode George, whom he said will not work against him.
Speaking on the EndSARS memorial, he wondered why it so difficult for the Lagos State Governor to take responsibility and appologise to people even if it is just one person that died when the army opened fire on the youths.
“We need to find a way of putting this to rest. I am not saying this for anything. We need to put closure on this”, Jandor said.
He explained that when he and his group started Lagos4Lagos in APC, the leaders of the party banned all groups but that he told them that Lagos4Lagos is a registered organization.
“I come from Lagos West and we have never been in government. The only person that used the slot is Tinubu and he is not from there”, he said, adding that at a meeting, Sanwo-Olu expressed his fear about his emergence as PDP governorship candidate in the state.
