LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigerians have suddenly responded to the call to save veteran broadcaster and actor, Sadiq Daba who is looking for help to travel abroad to attend to his multiple ailments.
He was first diagnosed months back for Leukemia. While he was struggling to contend with the ailment, he came down with prostate cancer.
For days back, the response was poor, but it seems the contribution has picked up thanks to well meaning Nigerians who have been generous to him.
So far, contribution has hit N10.5 million from N350, 000 four days ago.
“We thank God that Nigerians have greatly influenced the possibility of getting quality treatment for our dear Icon, Sadiq Daba. Only four days the account was reading N350k, then on Friday if rose to N1.5m and N10.5m as at 10am today and it is growing. We pray it continues like this so that we can conclude in a matter of days”, Coordinator Women Arise, Dr. Joe Okei Odumakin said in the social media.
Speaking on his ailments, he said “the choices I have to make are nerve wracking…surgery to permanently rid of the discomfiture by doing something to my testicles…castration..that is my layman view or I get placed on drugs, for two years, without a guarantee that it will be a complete success at the cost of a 150,000 Naira monthly!!
“I have done the Biopsy , this is to confirm the positiveness of whether its cancerous or not, and then commence with the next procedure!! If only I could be(flown) abroad and seek for more medical attention! Without doubt some thing more positive I can get without going through rigours of a possible ” CASTRATION!!! ”
“The bottom line is that I NEED HELP financially to be able to do so!! Dr.Odumakin I am a in quagmire!!! Leukemia. Prostrate.. What, do I do I ? Am age 67, retired, on a meagre salary that does not(come) as at when due, with a houshold to support!!! If only kind hearted Nigerians, the Government can HELP!!!!! Sadiq Daba”, he wrote.
