VLADIMIR Putin and Xi Jinping have teamed up to sabotage a desperate global rescue mission to keep the world’s oil flowing.
The two power-hungry giants used their UN vetoes to kill off a plan to escort tankers through the Strait of Hormuz—the vital “jugular vein” of global energy—leaving the West staring down the barrel of a fuel crisis.
The resolution, sponsored by Bahrain and backed by the UK and US, would have sent an international naval task force to protect merchant ships from Iranian aggression.
But in a move that has sparked fury across the globe, Moscow and Beijing ruthlessly blocked the move. They claimed it wasn’t the Ayatollahs in Tehran who started the current bloody conflict, but the United States and Israel.
Russia’s UN envoy spat that the West was “pouring fuel on the fire,” while China’s representative claimed the naval mission was a “provocation” against Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow strip of water through which 20 percent of the world’s oil supply travels every single day. If it shuts, the global economy grinds to a halt.
The current crisis exploded on February 28, 2026, when a series of massive military strikes by the US and Israel targeted Iranian military sites. Since then, the region has been a tinderbox:
Shipping Chaos: Iran has retaliated by harassing tankers and deploying naval mines.
The Squeeze: Major shipping giants like Maersk have already hit the brakes, rerouting ships thousands of miles around Africa.
Price Pain: Experts warn that if the “Hormuz Blockade” continues, petrol prices at the pumps could rocket to record highs.
‘Betrayal’
One British diplomatic source told The Sun last night: “This is a total betrayal. Russia and China are happy to see the world’s economy burn if it means they can score points against the West.”
White House officials blasted the veto as “shameful,” warning that by protecting Iran, the two nations are now responsible for any further blood spilled in the Gulf.
As the warships of the West sit idly by, the world waits to see who will blink first in the high-stakes game of chicken.
