FRANKFURT – RB Leipzig will be without forward André Silva for Saturday’s German Cup final against his former club Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 27-year-old suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh during training and will be out until further notice, the club announced on Twitter on Wednesday.

“We expect him to return to the pitch in the course of pre-season,” the Cup holders added.
Media reports say the Portuguese is unhappy in Leipzig and he has been linked with Benfica. However, the expected departure of Christopher Nkunku to Chelsea in the coming weeks could offer him more playing time in Leipzig next season.

Frankfurt received a boost before the final in Berlin with striker Randal Kolo Muani saying he might still be at the club next season.

Transfer speculation has swirled around the France forward, with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Manchester United among those said to be interested.

“It may be that I will be here another season. There is a possibility that I can become the top scorer in the Bundesliga,” the 24-year-old told reporters.

He scored 15 goals in the German top flight in the season just finished, only one behind Werder Bremen’s Niclas Füllkrug and Nkunku at the top of the scoring charts.

“The final is important for us. You don’t just go there to take part, you want to win it,” added Kolo Muani, who won the cup in his home country with Nantes before moving to Frankfurt.
