DOHA—The Qatari Foreign Ministry has issued a strong statement of support for the United States’ role in seeking an end to the Gaza conflict, confirming that a joint Qatari-Egyptian mediation team has formally presented the U.S.-backed ceasefire plan to Hamas.
In a statement released earlier today, a spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry expressed high praise for Washington’s continued commitment.
”We highly appreciate the U.S. commitment to end the war in the Gaza Strip,” the spokesperson stated, underscoring Doha’s primary objectives in the ongoing negotiations.
“Our goal is to end the war and end the starvation in Gaza.”
The spokesperson confirmed that the critical proposal—widely reported to outline a multi-phase process including a hostage release and a permanent cessation of hostilities—was delivered to the terror group’s delegation.
”Qatar and Egypt handed Hamas the plan to end the war in Gaza, and a Hamas delegation promised to study it,” the ministry said. The delegation reportedly pledged a swift review, though the spokesperson cautioned that a full response is not yet imminent.
“The Hamas negotiating delegation promised to study the American plan and it is still early to respond.”
Qatar, which has played a central role in mediating between Israel and Hamas since the October 7 attacks, reaffirmed its tireless efforts toward de-escalation and humanitarian relief.
”We have committed since day one to work towards ending the war, introducing aid and de-escalating,” the statement read, adding that “Since day one, Qatar has not delayed any efforts to end the Gaza war or support its population.”
The ministry also highlighted the coordinated international effort behind the scenes, integrating the work of regional players in the diplomatic push.
“Country [Qatari], Egyptian, and Turkish efforts to end the war are collectively and coordinatedly integrated,” confirming a unified front among key intermediaries to secure a halt to the fighting.
The focus now remains on the Hamas leadership’s review of the American proposal, as regional and international pressure mounts to accept the terms and secure the release of the remaining hostages.
