Journalists killed by Israel in Gaza now 228

GAZA, Palestine – One of the Frontline Palestinian journalist, Mohammed Al-Sultan has been killed by the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF.
He was killed along with his family when the IDF targeted their tent in the open Gaza wilderness that the strip has become as a result of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians.
In a statement Palestinian Journalists Protection Center, PJPC said the journalist was killed few months after he was released from Israeli incarceration.
The PJPC said his martyrdom comes just months after he was released from “israeli” prisons as part of a prisoner exchange deal.
PJPC explained that Al-Sultan worked as an editor and language reviewer for the Falasteen daily newspaper in Gaza.
It added that he was arrested by “israeli” forces on September 24, 2023, and was released on February 28, 2025, as part of a prisoner swap between “israel” and the Palestinian resistance.
While in detention, Al-Sultan endured eight harsh interrogation sessions during which he was subjected to physical abuse and verbal humiliation.
In his revelation to PJPC before he was eliminated, Al-Sultan described his detention as violation of the most basic human rights standards.
With Al-Sultan’s martyrdom, the number of Palestinian journalists martyred since the outbreak of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 228, according to PJPC data.
The center noted that has attained unprecedented fit in assassination of media practitioners, killing one journalist every 60 hours in Gaza.
The center denounced systematic massacre of media workers, urging the United Nations and the international community to act immediately to stop the targeting of journalists and prevent the use of military force to obstruct their work.
It emphasized that the repeated targeting of journalists constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention, which calls for the protection of civilians, including journalists, during armed conflicts.
The PJPC renewed its call to the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all global press organizations to condemn the systematic crimes against journalists in Gaza, stressing that these attacks amount to war crimes and require accountability before international courts.
