October 13, 2014 – Self portrait of the revered Spanish sculptor and painter, Pablo Picasso will be on display at the Ordovas Gallery, London this week and run till December later on in the year.
One of the works is a 1901 self-portrait by the artist which has never been exhibited. The piece titled ‘Yo Picasso according to the BBC depicts the Spanish artist at age 30, looking directly at the viewer while painting by candlelight.
That art work will be exhibited along with a 1969 self-portrait by Francis Bacon and works by Geoff Koons and Damien Hirst.
We learn that the Bacon’s self-portrait is also being exhibited in London for the first time in almost 50 years.
Gallery manager, Pilar Ordovas, said it was Hirst who suggested that Koons be invited to participate in the exhibition.
Pablo Picasso died April 8, 1973 at the age of 91.
