OSOGBO — Ahead of the highly anticipated Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially released the final collection figures for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), confirming that 1,906,390 registered voters have picked up their voting cards across the state.
The recorded collection represents an impressive 81.50 per cent collection rate out of the total 2,339,233 registered voters captured in the commission’s official register for Osun State.
According to an official press statement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026, by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the remaining 432,843 uncollected PVCs—representing 18.50 per cent—have been securely vaulted with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) until the exercise concludes, in accordance with standard electoral guidelines.

Transparency and Replacement Operations
Addressing operational updates concerning damaged, defaced, or misplaced voter credentials, the electoral umpire revealed that proactive measures were established to ensure affected citizens were not disenfranchised.
The statement noted that a total of 6,101 citizens who formally submitted applications for the replacement of damaged or lost voter cards successfully printed downloadable copies of their PVCs to facilitate their participation at the polls.
To promote complete transparency and enable post-by-post tracking, the commission confirmed that a granular unit-by-unit breakdown has been uploaded directly to its official public portal.
”A table of the PVCs collected, Polling Unit by Polling Unit (PU), has been published on the Commission’s website,” the official press statement verified.
Assurances on Electoral Readiness
As political parties wrap up campaign activities across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, INEC reaffirmed its operational readiness to deliver a seamless ballot exercise on Saturday. The electoral body called on stakeholders to collaborate toward maintaining order throughout the voting process.
Addressing key election participants—including political parties, accredited civil society organisations, international and domestic media observers, and the general electorate of Osun State—INEC assured all stakeholders of its commitment to maintaining high standards of credibility.
”The Commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, media, and the good people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, 15th August 2026,” Haruna affirmed.
With over 1.9 million eligible voters armed with their PVCs, all eyes turn to Osun State as citizens head to the polling units on Saturday to decide the state’s executive leadership for the next four years.
