    NUJ orders boycott of FFK’s events over assault on Daily Trust reporter

    UYO, Akwa Ibom, Nigeria – The Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ) Akwa Ibom State has directed members to boycott activities of former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode over his verbal assault on Mr. Charles Eyo, a reporter with Daily Trust Newspaper in Calabar.

    In a statement signed by Comrades Amos Etuk and Dominic Akpan, Chairman and Secretary respectively, the NUJ urged members and chapels  to stay away from the activities of the former minister

    “In line with the disposition of the national leadership of our great Union, the State Council has directed that no journalist should attend a media parley with Femi Fani-Kayode or any of his activity at any location in Akwa Ibom State. The NUJ is not part of the visit”, the NUJ said in the statement.

    The former minister had at a press conference in Calabar called Daily Trust reporter stupid and urged him to report himself to his publisher for asking “Who is bankrolling him” in his tour of the South South.

    The Minister has also withdrawn his use of the word “stupid” in  a retraction.
