Nigeria Customs Service acts as China detects Coronavirus in frozen foods

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS)  has directed all commands and zones to intensify anti-smuggling activities towards ensuring that frozen foods  like chicken and meat  and shrimps are not smuggled into Nigeria.

Customs issued the directive based on intelligence  it received that during routine screening of meat and seafood, Chinese authorities detected Coronavirus in a sample of frozen chicken wings and shrimps from Brazil and Ecuador.

“You are reminded that importation of live or dead birds including frozen poultry, H/S Code 0105:1100-0105.99, 0106.31.00.00-010.39.00.00, 0207:26.00.00 and 0210.99.00.00 through the land borders and seaports are absolutely prohibited”,  Ag Deputy  Comptroller(Enforcement) I.T Magaji said in a statement dated September 09, 2020.

He added that Consequently, CGC has directed  all commands to  intensify anti-smuggling activities
