Nigeria, July 25, 2016 – Militant group operating in the Niger Delta known as Niger Delta Avengers late Sunday night carried out an attack on pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) at Nsit-Ibom, Akwa Ibom State.

In a statement, Spokesman of the group, Brig-Gen Mudoch Agbinibo said it blew up the pipeline at 11:30 pm on Sunday and challenged the NNPC to check if what has happened is nothing but system anomaly.

‘11:30pm on Sunday, the NDA blow up Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), gas pipeline at Nsit-Ibom L.G.A, Akwa Ibom state. NNPC should check their pipeline if it’s “system Anomaly”’, the group said in the statement

The Niger Delta Avengers has said that it is agitating for development of the Niger Delta. It has also said that it is willing to dialogue but that it must be in the presence representatives of members of the international community.

Few days ago, it refuted statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari that he is dialoguing with the group, adding that the NDA is at present not into dialogue with anybody and that if there is any, it must be with those sponsored by the state to scuttle the struggle for emancipation of the Niger Delta.
