IKOYI, Lagos, Nigeria – The anticipated arraignment of President of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), Paul Usoro at the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos today failed to hold.
He was scheduled to be arraigned before Justice Sule Hassan but the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC told the court that it could not effect service on Usoro.
When the matter was called this morning, Counsel to the EFCC, Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo alleged that the NBA President refused to honour the invitation of commission last Friday to effect the service of the Charge.
Defence counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun insisted that Usoro was not served with the court processes, arguing that the plea could not be taken before service.
Justice Sule Hassan has directed that the court registrars should serve the accused person the court process. The case has been adjourned till 18th of December for arraignment.
The anti graft agency had filed a ten count charge bordering on corruption against the NBA president.
