LAGOS, Nigeria – The family of celebrated actor, Mr. John Okafor better known as Mr. Ibu has reacted to reports in the online media suggesting that the actor has become legless after a second amputation.

In a statement to correct what is in circulation, the family said Mr. Ibu has not become legless as was purveyed after the second surgery on his leg.

The family said Mr. Ibu was not amputated on both legs but that the two amputations were done on one leg.

“The first amputation didn’t completely correct his health predicament so that doctors have to go ahead to amputate same leg further to ensure we didn’t lose him”, the family said adding that his ailment has nothing to do with diabetes but constant clotting of blood in his leg(blood vessel) and other health challenges posing risk to his life hence the need for amputation.

The family explained they couldn’t fly him out because doctors have tagged him ‘not fit to fly’.

“This tag has made it extremely impossible to get him out of the country for advanced medical treatment as no airline will fly him”.

Nevertheless, the family assured that Mr. Ibu has been admitted in one of the best and biggest hospital in Nigeria, adding that doctors have availed the comic actor the best hands in the industry.

They thanked Nigerians for their contributions, physically and spiritually to get Mr. Ibu back on his feet.
