IDI ARABA, Lagos, Nigeria – Tension currently pervades Mushin after mayhem was let loose in Idi Araba, Mushin, Lagos penultimate Saturday when two rival gangs clashed at a party put together by a lady on Olanrewaju Street, off Itire Road.
Residents are apprehensive, fearing a re-occurrence. Mushin is known as a hotbed for gang war in Lagos.
The lady, we gathered dated two men, one from Olorunsogo and the other from Idi Araba leading to bloody clash of interest.
Over 100 vehicles parked along the street were smashed when the gangsters clashed. We gathered that there has been a battle of supremacy between Idi Araba boys and Olorunnishola boys which started about four years ago but came into the open during the party.
A resident, who did not want his name in print, said one Faruk of Olorunnishola escalated the fight after he smashed a bottle on Abbey, a strong member of Idi Araba boys.
He said Abbey’s gang members regrouped and went on a reprisal to Olorunishola community to unleash mayhem, smashing all vehicles within reach.
“Apart from destroying property, they entered into houses to steal laptops, generators, televisions and other items. Everybody here is afraid. We need more security and we want the police to stop the gangs from causing more havoc,” a resident said.
