LAGOS, Nigeria – Immediate past Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru is dead.
He died late last night, Managing Director of the NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari has announced. He was 60.
Kyari described him as a man of exemplary character and disposition.
“My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night. He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him”, he said on twitter.
Born July 7, 1959, Kiari would have been 61 by July 7. Maikanti Baru was GMD of the NNPC from July 2016 to July 2019.
Baru who hails from Bauchi was educated at Federal Government College, Jos, he obtained his BSc in Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University in 1982 and PhD in Computer Aided Engineering from the University of Sussex, England.
