LAGOS, Nigeria – In a decisive operation aimed at enhancing safety and security across the City, the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences has apprehended 28 notorious miscreants in Mile 2, Alaba Rago, Festac, Apapa, and its surrounding areas.

The arrested group, popularly known as “Omotaku,” has long been a menace to innocent motorists, forcing them to part with large sums of money when their vehicles break down on the Highway.

The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele stated that the operation marks a significant step in the right direction, ensuring relief for motorists and residents who have undergone so much trauma as a result of  the activities of these criminal elements along the Highways.

“The Lagos State Taskforce remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and we will continue in our efforts to rid the metropolis of those who prey on law-abiding citizens”.

The Chairman further reaffirmed theaAgency’s dedication to ensuring that the mop up exercise is continuous in order to discourage anyone from engaging in such a practice. “

He stated that these arrests demonstrate the agency’s resolve to ensure that the environment remains safe and conducive for all.

“We will not rest until every member of the Omotaku gang is arrested and made to answer for their crimes. All 28 suspects apprehended will be charged to court immediately”. he stated.

The Lagos State Taskforce urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity through the ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative, as collaboration between the public and the Agency remains key to keeping the city safe, serene and habitable.
