Lagos State House of Assembly has called on the Federal Government to publicly declare the sponsors of the outlawed Boko Haram insurgency, saying it is high time the PDP-led government at the centre let the whole world know the truth about the terror group.

This call is coming on the heels of the attack on one of the APC national leaders, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari through a detonated explosive against his convoy on Wednesday 23rd in Kaduna.

The call was contained in a release made available to newsmen by the Chairman House Committee on Information, Strategy, Security and Publicity, Segun Olulade in Alausa Ikeja.

“From what I understand based on personal account of Gen. Buhari about the incident, the APC stalwart’s life was clearly targeted in the attack given the trail on his vehicle before final detonation of the bomb, hence, Gen Muhammadu Buhari who has been very focal against the terrorist group cannot be said to be the patron of the same group that seeks to end his life as evident in the attempt on his life, and therefore, the PDP led government should tell the country in clear terms who are the actual sponsors and patrons of Boko Haram.”

Olulade observed that the twin bomb incidents that occurred in Kaduna were a new dimension to terror attacks in the country as both according to him, “were targeted against individuals even though it was clear that in the process, many lives would be lost.”

Olulade stressed, “at this critical state of our nation, only President Goodluck Jonthan can reduce tension in the country by naming terror sponsors that his government and party (PDP) have over time claimed to have identified, so Nigerians can identify their enemies and take them up headlong.

“It is worrisome that the combined efforts of the Army, the State Department of Security, the Nigerian Police and other security apparatus have not been able to identify a single sponsor of Boko Haram terror in Nigeria even as PDP spokesperson has continued to allege the opposition blindly on terror sponsorship in the country.

The lawmaker wondered, “Is it not funny that the Government that claimed that terror sponsors have infiltrated his government is unable to fish out even only one of them since over 2 years that the statement was made? Whither our hope in the government?.

“We are in a very critical stage in the history of our nation. It is quite unfortunate that the terror attack is taking new dimension on daily basis and getting closer to shattering our collective entity. But I am very sure that the President is in the best position to salvage the country if he truly means well for the people. The continued trend on terror attacks is a clear indication of failure of the present government and the party that produces it but which they have refused to accept,” Olulade said..

He said if care is not taken, the new dimension of the insurgents may lead to death of any major actor in the political arena and thus spur violent protest.

While sympathising with innocent Nigerians who lost their lives in the attack, he however congratulated Gen. Buhari and the Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Gahiru Bauchi for their narrow escape.
