Lagos, Nigeria – All offices of the Lagos State Government Bus Service(LAGBUS) are now under lock and key as workers have embarked on strike to protest the decision of the Lagos State Government to ban LAGBUS, the red government owned buses from Ikorodu corridor.

The strike which kicked off this morning has thrown commuters in disarray without any hope in sight. Most commuters who turned up this morning at the various offices of LAGBUS where disappointed when they discovered that the workers were on strike

Our correspondent, who visited the Ojodu-Berger LAGBUS’ terminal this morning, reported that both gates were locked with few buses parked inside, with a very wide banner hanging on the front gate intimating commuters about government’s decision.

The environment was very rowdy, with hundreds of commuters stranded and looking for lift from kind hearted cab owner passing through the axis. Commercial bus drivers however had a field day catching in on the strike to make more money.
Our correspondent reported that workers who turned up at the office were seen seated in groups with others discussing the development with commuters.

One of the LAGBUS drivers who spoke to our correspondent said the workers embarked on the strike to protest decision of government. He told our correspondent that the strike which is across the state will linger on for a very long time.

He said workers see no reason why government should deprive a government agency that has right over Ikorodu corridor and give same to a private firm. He said workers believe that the governor is favouring his business interest or that of his Godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over government establishment.
