ABUJA, Nigeria – President Muhammed Buhari has congratulated Mr. Willie Obiano on his victory in last Saturday’s governorship election.
In a letter signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, Buhari said the process leading to the election and its peaceful conduct shows that the electoral process is bearing positive fruits.
“This is very important and I am determined to give Nigerians free and fair elections, no matter which ways the results swing”, he said.
He said the sanctity of the ballot deepens the nations’ democracy. He called on INEC to improve on areas of logistics as the nation braces for coming governorship elections, especially 2019.
While congratulating Obiano, he urged him to rededicate himself to building on his achievements that endeared him to the electorates and swayed the overwhelming majority of votes in his favour.
