ABUJA, Nigeria – Acting Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed has elevated six policemen to the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG.

Four of them were elevated from Assistant Inspector General of Police(AIG) to Deputy Inspector General of Police(DIG). They are Usman Tilli Abubakar, Abdulmaji Ali, Taiwo Frederick Lakanu and Godwin Nwobodo.

Usman Tilli Abubakar joined the police from Kebbi State in February 1986; while Abdulmaji Ali, from Niger State in February 1986; Taiwo Frederick Lakanu, joined from Lagos State in February 1986 while Godwin Nwobodo joined the police from Enugu State in 1984.

The remaining two new DIGs were elevated from the rank of police commissioners. They are Ogbizi Michael, former Abia State police commissioner, and Ibrahim Lamorde, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who hails from Adamawa State.

Their elevation comes a day after the acting IGP retired seven DIGs who were his senior in order to pave way for the constitution of a new management team with whom he could work comfortably.

The retired DIGs served with former IGP Ibrahim Idris. They are: DIGs in charge of Finance & Administration, (Maigari Dikko); Operations (Habila Joshak); Information & Communications Technology (Emmanuel Inyang); Logistics & Supply (Agboola Oshodi-Glover); Research & Planning (Mohammed Katsina); Training & Development (Sani Mohammed) and Federal Criminal Investigation & Intelligence (Peace Ibekwe-Abdallah).
