    Ife Igbo football competition: ACTDA MD community trounce office 5-1

    UMUDIOKA, Awka, Nigeria – Umudioka Community in Awka South Local Government Council on Friday defeated Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA)  by 5-1 at the opening Ife Igbo football competition held at Awka township stadium.

    The football competition is designed to fight social vices like cultism and others among the youths in Awka town.

    The participating communities are Umudioka, Umueri, Umuanaga, Umuogwali, Umuenechi, Umuokpu, Umubelle, Nkwelle, Umuogbu, Umuayom, Umuogbunu and ACTDA. Others are, Umuzocha, Ifite-awka, Amachalla, Umuoramma, Umukwa, Amudo, Amikwo, Omuko, Umuike and Umunnamoke

    The football competition is being organised by Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Mr Osita Onuko and sponsored by Jezco group limited.

    Umudioka is the home community of   Mr Osita Onuko while ACTDA is his office. The Umudioka community team  dominated the match in the 90 minutes of play  leaving ACTDA in disarray.

    Speaking to journalists shortly after the defeat of his office team by his community team, Onuko  said he is for all the teams that are  participating  in the competition and not particularly interested in any one .

    He said he has  no special attachment to his community team or his office team but he is   strongly attached to the fight against the  menace of cultism which had become a worrisome social vice in the town.

    According to him,the purpose of the competition was to enable  players  who are youths to exhibit their talents and keep themselves busy till the end of the year.

    He reiterated that there is need for  the youths to shun social vices in the town, noting that  with social vices like cultism,and others Awka town which is the capital cannot develop.

    “The governor is passionate about developing Awka into a great City but this cannot happen under insecurity and cultism. This competition today is to tell  the world that Awka is secured, peaceful and safe.

    As for the match,I belong to every team and they belong to me . I am not particularly  interested in anyone,my only interest is to be peaceful and engage the youths  productively and actively to shun social vices” he said .

    The Managing Director,Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA),Mike Ozoemela commended the ACTDA MD for the wonderful ideas aimed at curtailing social vices in the town.

    According to Ozoemela,who is an indigene of Awka he  was at the match to support  Onuko action of reclaiming the glory of Awka town.
