Warns Israel to withdraw to salvage the captives

JERUSALEM — The military wing of the Hamas terror organization, the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced on Sunday that it has lost contact with two Israeli hostages, identifying them as Omri Miran and Matan Angrist.
The group claimed the loss of contact was a direct result of “barbaric military operations and violent targeting” by the IDF in the Sabra and Tal Al-Hawa neighborhoods of Gaza over the last 48 hours.
The chilling statement, released via the group’s Telegram channel, stated that the lives of the two captives are in “real danger” and issued an ultimatum to the Israeli military.
The Al-Qassam Brigades demanded that the “occupation forces must immediately withdraw south of Street 8,” and further insisted on an immediate cessation of all Israeli air sorties for a 24-hour period, starting at 18:00 this evening (local time).
The purpose of this temporary halt, according to the statement, would be to “attempt to extract the two captives.”
The group concluded its message with a stern warning: “We have warned you, and you have been given notice.”
There was no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) or the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the Al-Qassam Brigades’ claims or their identities.
The authenticity of the names could not be independently verified, and Israel does not typically comment on specific claims made by terror groups regarding the condition or location of hostages.
The announcement comes amid intense fighting in central and southern Gaza, where the IDF has been conducting operations aimed at dismantling Hamas’s military and governance infrastructure.
The fate of the remaining hostages in Gaza remains a central and deeply emotional issue in Israel, and statements from Hamas regarding their condition are often viewed as a form of psychological warfare against the Israeli public and government.
This latest claim is likely to intensify pressure on the Israeli government as it continues its military campaign.
