KADUNA, Nigeria – At least 12 people made up of a family of eight and four others have been kidnapped by bandits in the Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
According to eyewitnesses, the bandits invaded Kofar Gayan area in large numbers before dawn today , attacking house before making away with their captives.
Confirming the incidents, Spokesman of the Kaduna State police, Mohammed Jalige told Channels TV that four of those kidnapped were rescued by police operatives who arrived the area during the raid and engaged the bandits in a gun battle.
According to Jalige, the security operatives have begun an aggressive patrol along the Kaduna-Zaria highway with a view to arresting the bandits and rescuing those kidnapped.
This attack came about 48 hours after bandits invaded Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic in Zaria and made away with eight students and two lecturers. They killed one student during the attack.
