BERLIN – The German Ski Federation (DSV) has called for additional funding from the government to support the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its various sports and disciplines.

The DSV wants to continue its digital transformation, with its coach for science and technology, Karlheinz Waibel, telling Saturday’s edition of the Rheinische Post paper that AI is an important part of their plans.

“If we want to work more intensively with AI we also need state funding, which has not been granted so far. We need the commitment that German sport can and wants to afford this technology. The added value is great,” Waibel said.

“We are testing the first systems in training. It is now important to evaluate data quickly and identify patterns so that our coaches can benefit from it in their daily work.”
