DOHA, Qatar – The defending champion, France today, Wednesday showed they are no push over in the Qatar 2022 World Cup when they defeated the only African hopeful, Morocco in the Semi-final encounter at the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
France, very conscious of Moroccan strategy for an early goal and defending massively till end of the game shocked the Arab world when the team beat the Moroccan goalie just 5 minutes into play through Theo Hermandez.
France held on the to the 1-0 lead until half time but continued with the pressure in the second half, not giving the Moroccans ample time to executive their strategy.
The effort paid up in the 79th minutes when Randal Kolo Muani made it 2-0 for his team, throwing the 68, 294 spectators in the stadium into wild excitement.
Morocco that dominated play, securing highest ball possession 61 against 49 tried all the tricks, including rough plays but the team could not match the classic effort of the defending champions at conclusion of play.
France will now play Argentina for the Final on Sunday at 4pm while Morocco will take on Croatia on Saturday at 4 PM.
