July 23, 2014 – Former Head of State and leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday escaped unhurt when his convoy was hit by Improvised Explosive Devices (IED)s in the second explosion in Kaduna.
The explosion which occurred at Kawo market area injured three security aides of the general and were immediately rushed to hospital, party sources have said.
A close aide of Buhari told Premium Times that the bomber, who drove in a Toyota Sienna vehicle, rammed into the general’s convoy and detonated the explosive, adding that the opposition leader survived the attack, but his vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser, and another one behind it were badly damaged.
“The General survived and he has already been evacuated in a Golf Volkswagen vehicle,” his aide said. Spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Alhaji Lai Mohammed had confirmed the incident stressing that the former head of state was target of the attack.
