Douglas S. Beidler is Assistant Director of Security

WASHINGTON – Director Federal Bureau of Investigation, Mr.  Christopher Wray has named Douglas S. Beidler as the assistant director of the Security Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Doglas Beidler  most recently served as the deputy assistant director of the division.

The Security Division is charged with protecting the FBI’s people, information, and facilities.

Mr. Beidler joined the FBI as a special agent in 2002. He was assigned to the Las Vegas Field Office, where he investigated national security matters, served on the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and worked human intelligence issues. He was promoted in 2010 to a supervisor in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters, working in the Internal Investigations Section.

Mr. Beidler returned to Las Vegas in 2012 to continue investigating national security cases as well as criminal matters. He was promoted in 2014 to supervisor of the Joint Terrorism Task Force and oversaw all international terrorism investigations in Nevada.

In 2017, Mr. Beidler returned to FBI Headquarters as the special assistant to the assistant director of the Security Division. Later in the year, he was promoted to special assistant to the executive assistant director of the Human Resources Branch.

In 2019, he was selected as the assistant special agent in charge of the Counterintelligence and Cyber Branch of the Chicago Field Office. He also oversaw the Chicago Regional Computer Forensics Lab, which assists law enforcement agencies in northern Illinois with their digital evidence. In 2020, Mr. Beidler was promoted to deputy special agent in charge of the Chicago Field Office.

Mr. Beidler was promoted again in 2020 to section chief of the Employee Development and Selection Program in the Human Resources Branch at Headquarters.

He was named deputy assistant director of the Security Division in 2021 and assumed the role as acting assistant director. Mr. Beidler graduated from Clemson University in South Carolina. Prior to joining the FBI, he was an executive in the convention sales industry.
