The Lagos State Government, Mr. Babatunde Fashola is currently heading to court to stop the Federal Government from continued deduction of 0ne percent from Federal Allocation for on-going police reform.

The governor made the revelation Monday when he appeared before the Lagos State House of Assembly for a plenary session. Fashola who said deduction was illegal said he has written the Federal Government to stop the deduction but that he was yet to receive any response.

“I have not got any a reply, we are considering going to court in order to stop it.”

Fashola also faulted refusal by the Federal Government to remit ecological funds to the state adding that the National Economic Council meeting remains the only platform available to agitate for such issues and that the meeting has not been held for six months.

Fashola explained that some states have resorted to borrowing in an attempt to keep government running. He attributed the development to uncoordinated and discretionary application of the federal government on waiver and fiscal policy and also decline on oil production, pipeline vandalism and oil theft.”

He explained that Lagos has been able to whittle down the effect of such decline without proper channel to address it as a result of tax payers’ money and thus has managed not to engage in borrowing except for special intervention projects.

In his response, the Speaker, Adeyemi Ikuforiji thanked the governor for coming to the House to brief it about things that have to do with the future of Nigerians.
