ABUJA- The Nigeria U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, are brimming with confidence and appear primed to secure their passage into the third round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
They are set to face their counterparts from Rwanda this Saturday in the second leg of their second-round tie at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
Having secured a narrow 1-0 advantage in the first leg in Kigali last Sunday, the two-time World Cup silver medalists have been putting in intensive work to ensure a more convincing performance on home soil.
Thursday’s training session was marked by heightened energy, precision, and commitment. Players poured out their strength under the watchful eyes of the coaching crew, determined to iron out any deficiencies from the first leg and deliver a commanding display for their home supporters. Every drill, sprint, and tactical adjustment reflected the team’s hunger to progress.
Head Coach Moses Aduku and his assistants have been emphasizing sharper coordination and tactical discipline, urging the squad to maintain focus and consistency. Their determination to guide the team to victory was palpable as they pushed the players to elevate their performance levels ahead of the crucial fixture.
The players have responded with zeal and resilience, blending individual brilliance with collective teamwork. Confidence is reportedly high in the camp that the Falconets will rise to the occasion on Saturday, not only building on their first-leg lead but doing so with a performance that leaves no doubt about their superiority.
A win or a draw will see them safely into the next phase of the qualifying journey.
