BERLIN – Kevin Trapp has become the goalkeeper with most Bundesliga games for Eintracht Frankfurt as he made his 235th appearance for the club in the final game of the season against Freiburg on Saturday.

He beat the record set by former Frankfurt goalkeeper Peter Kunter, who made 234 Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt in the 1960s and 1970s.

In the current season, Trapp only missed one game in all competitions, the match in Freiburg in the first half of the Bundesliga, due to a cold.

Meanwhile, more than six hours before Borussia Dortmund’s possible Bundesliga title game, a wave of fans has already starting lining up to enter pubs and bars in the city centre.

A security camera at the Alter Markt, a traditional meeting point of Dortmund fans, showed long queues in front of bars early on Saturday morning. The final game of the season is to kick off at 3:30 pm (1530 GMT).

Dortmund top the league two points ahead of second-placed Bayern Munich and need only a home win against Mainz to claim their first Bundesliga title since 2012.

Bayern have set a league record by taking the trophy 10 consecutive times since Dortmund’s last triumph, but to secure an 11th title in a row, the Bavarians need to defeat Cologne and hope Dortmund suffer a setback.

Dortmund received more than 300,000 ticket requests for the game against Mainz, but their stadium can host only around 81,000 people. A public viewing of the match won’t take place due to broadcasting rights issues.
