UMUAHIA, Abia – The Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu Abia State, Prof Gregory Ibe has been named as Patron of Enugu State University of Science and Technology ESUT.
Prof Ibe who is the governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA(Abia State) in the 2023 general election was appointed based on his excellent character and capacity.
The notification of honour was contained in a statement issued by the ESUT Ex- student Leaders Association (EESLA) addressed to Prof Ibe with titled: Presentation of Investiture as Patron of ESUT Ex- student Leaders Association dated 6th October 2022 and jointly signed by Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Prof Aloysius Michael okolie, National President of EESLA, Barr. Chimezie John Ugwu and chairman of EESLA patrons investiture committee, comrade Hon. Chidi Chidebe.
The statement reads: ” We are pleased to respectfully notify you of your well deserved nomination as patron of our noble Association, the Enugu state University of Science and Technology ,Ex-student Leaders Association EESLA. The association represents an umbrella body for all past student leader of ESUT since it was founded in 1979.
The investiture dinner shall form part of the weeklong event of the 2022 convocation ceremony of our Alma mater, ESUT. The event will take place in Enugu on Thursday 24th November 2022 with His Excellency ,the governor of Enugu state as the Chief Host/ Special Guest of Honour and our dynamic Vice Chancellor Prof Aloysius Michael Okolie as the Host.
Our conviction spring from the knowledge of your capacity and character, not just on excellent performer in many capacities and a seasoned manager of man and resource but as a passionate advocate excellent leadership in our society. This clearly cohere with the vision and mission of our association as a champion of good governance and development.

Undoubtedly, Professor Gregory Ibe is a man with a good heart and a great personality of note ,who has been described by many as a man who does things only men of God do. He has also a subsisting charisma that is sustained in virtue throughout the years and these attributes have simply defined the man known and called Prof Ibe.
Prof. Gregory Ibe is so many things to so many people, but underlying, he is a man with extreme humanity and love of God, and does what only people of God in the society.
He is a gift to humanity ,and he drives joy putting smiles on the faces of people, especially the needy in the society. Prof Ibe, an alumnus of the prestigious Enugu State University of Science and Technology, during his day as a student was influential and he cared for students’ welfare.
While in the university as a student, he worked hard for greater tomorrow to serve humanity.
While a student, Prof Ibe excelled in all courses, he took even when he was actively participating in social activities. Right in the university, he was busy taking responsibilities as expected of ambitious students and nursing and building his business empire.
Everyone who knew Ibe at the time would attest to his passion for entrepreneurship and intelligence among other laudable virtues.
Undoubtedly, Ibe having been consistent with his personality, contributions to his Alma Mater and society at large , Ex-Student Leaders of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology found him worthy and decided to honour and bestowed on him, with the prestigious PATRON of Enugu State University of Science and Technology Ex-Student Leaders Association on the 24th of November, 2022.
Prof Ibe is also honoured with prestigious award of OFR by the federal government of Nigeria.
