LEKKI, Lagos, Nigeria – Thugs allegedly loyal to the All Progressive Congress, APC today attacked followers of the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, otherwise known as Obidients in Lagos on their way to attend the party’s mega rally tagged mother of all rallies at the Tafawa Balewa Square(TBS), Lagos.
The thugs attacked Obidients in a well coordinated manner in several places within the Lagos metropolis. They attacked them at Jakande inflicting injuries on some of them.
The APC thugs later laid ambush on another bus conveying the Obidients at VGC and attacked one of the buses with clubs, stones and bottles, cutlasses and guns shattering the windows and damaging the bus conveying them, injuring dozens of members that had to be attended by medics on the ground at the TBS.
One of the victims who survived the attack said the assailants came in two danfo buses unbranded armed with cutlasses and guns.
Some Obidients coming from Ikorodu were also attacked at Adeniji, while descending the Third Mainland Bridge, inflicting body injury on them. Report of the Adeniji attack has also been lodged at the Onikan division of the Lagos State Police command.
Confirming the attack, Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin commended the Ward chairman of LP for reporting the attack at the Ilasan Division.
He said the four injured persons have been given medical attention and that the DPO of IIasan has commenced preliminary investigation while the SCID is to full take over the investigations.
He said the injured and other witnesses are assisting the police with relevant information that would aid the apprehension of the attackers.
He described the attack as reprehensible. He said the TBS venue of the rally has been secured since yesterday.
This orgy of violence from the APC hired thugs did not however prevent the Obidients from having a field day in Lagos as Peter Obi rod in motorcade, acknowledging cheers from Nigerians who came out in large numbers to greet the man they believes is the best that has won all the online polls even two weeks to the February 2023 election.
The whole of Lagos was shutdown from the Obafemi Awolowo Way, to National Stadium Lagos, Alaba International market to Ikorodu, all around Lagos showing their strength ahead of the election.
At TBS, PSquare led other A-list entertainers in an unforgettable performance, turning the rally into a musical jamboree and carnival. Peter Okoye, of the duo in the PSquare musical squad told Obdients that he is supporting Peter Obi with his full chest and that he is not pretending about it.
He said Peter Obi remains the best candidate among all those vying for the position.
He was joined by the likes of Zubby Enebeli, who called on the youths to vote Peter Obi as President come February 25. Earlier Peter Obi told supporters that his mission is to retain Lagos as the business hub of Nigeria for all to do business.
