March 24, 2015 – Police Affairs Minister, Alhaji AbdulJelili Adesiyan has said that it will no longer be possible for dictators to rule Nigeria again having experienced it in the years past.
The minister stated this while addressing people of Ede in Osun State during the continuation of house-to-house campaign for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan, saying that General Muhammadu Buhari is a dictator which is known to all Nigerians.
He stressed that no Yoruba man would allow a dictator who does not believe in democratic governance and the rule of law to lead them again.
“I want people to go out en mass and vote for Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming election so that they will end the deceit and APC propaganda in Osun State. I am sure they will not allow a dictator to come and govern this country again because as I said on several occasions, the evils that the men do live after them.
“By the time they were committing their atrocities, they never knew there will be today, today has finally come, they have to pay for their misdeeds in the past. So never again would any Yoruba man or in this country allow a dictator who doesn’t believe in democratic governance and the rule of law to come and rule us again and that was why the leadership of Yoruba and Afenifere who believe in the prophesy of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, will never do anything than to vote for Goodluck Jonathan come March 28.
“I’m calling on the people of Osun State and Nigeria as whole to re-elect President Jonathan. You should not be scared with the creation of State Boys in the South West state, the law enforcement agency will be on the ground to protect lives and property,” he said.
While educating the public on the usage of the Card Reader, Adesiyan said whoever has a genuine Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) is eligible to vote.
He stated further on the card reader: “I want people to be educated on the usage of the card reader, It is very important to point out that the card reader is not to disenfranchise anybody, the card is meant to authenticate the genuiness of the PVC and we know that in some cases it has failed the people because of the nature of the fingers and the technology itself.
So in an attempt not to disenfranchise anybody, anyone who gets to the polling unit with his PVC is eligible to vote. What is important is that the card must be genuine, belonging to the person that tenders it for him to vote”.
