November 13, 2015 – The tribunal set up by the Lagos State Government to probe assassination of Managing Director, Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), Mr. Tajudeen Disu will commence sitting on Monday, November 16th, 2015.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode inaugurated the tribunal 12th October, 2015 with a mandate to investigate the remote causes of the unrest that led to Disu’s assassination, with a view to forestalling future occurrence.
The 5-man tribunal under the Chairmanship of Hon. Justice Adesuyi Olateru-Olagbegi has been mandated to proffer solution that will forestall a re-occurrence of such public disorder in the area and other parts of the state whilst making necessary recommendations on the way forward to the state government.
Disu was murdered in Lekki in terrible circumstances, during a meeting with host communities of the LFTZ. Thousands of hectares of land was acquired by the state government from the host communities for the LFTZ and compensation paid. But it appears the community is not satisfied with terms of payment.
