    COVID-19: Nigeria confirms 49 fresh cases as 160, 952 die globally

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 49 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of COVID-19 in Nigeria to 542.

    Out of the 49 new cases, 23 were discovered in Lagos, 12 in Abuja, 10 in Kano, 2 in Ogun State, 1 in Oyo and 1 in Ekiti State making a total of 49 cases.

    However, out of the 542 cases in Nigeria, 166 patients have been treated and discharged while 19 people are dead.

    “Forty-nine new cases of #COVID-19 have been reported; 23 in Lagos 12 in FCT 10 in Kano 2 in Ogun 1 in Oyo 1 in Ekiti As at 10:40 pm 18th April there are 542 confirmed cases of #COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 166 Deaths: 19″, the NCDC said.

    Meanwhile, the death toll worldwide has hit 160, 952 while 2, 331, 099 cases have been confirmed worldwide, with United States still in the lead. So far, 735, 287 cases have been confirmed in the United States with 39,090 deaths, followed by Spain which currently has 194, 416 cases with 20, 639 deaths.

    In Italy, there are 175, 925 confirmed cases with 23, 227 deaths, while France has 152, 978 with 19, 349 deaths.

    Germany is reporting 143,724 confirmed cases with 4, 538 deaths, while United Kingdom has reported 115, 314 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 15, 498 deaths, while China has 83, 804 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths. Turkey has overtaken Iran, reporting 82, 329 cases with 1, 890 deaths, while Iran has 80,868 confirmed cases with 5,031 deaths.
