    OGBODU, Delta, Nigeria – The serenity which pervades Ogbodu town in Iseluku, Delta State was at the weekend shattered when 15-year-old girl, who is physically challenged was sexually assaulted by a 50 year old relative who is making frantic efforts to stop the police from wading into the matter.

    The alleged assailant, Samuel Nkosenye a.k.a Ambassador reputed to be a serial offender pounced on this little JSS 3 student, (names withheld) and violated her.

    The molested minor

    While the victim’s father was crying for justice, our reporter learnt that there has been overtures by some influential persons in Ugbodu Kingdom to prevent the matter from being attended to by the police.

    Samuel, described by some members of the Ugbodu Kingdom in Aniocha North Local Government Area as a serial rapist, after sexually abusing about six minors, was this time around caught in the act by youths in the community who swiftly mobilised to arrest him and take him to the police, only for one Professor Nduka, to stop both the villagers and the victim’s parents from going to the police.

    According to our findings, there has been frantic efforts by “the high and mighty” in Ugbodu to stop the police from wading into the matter.

    Confirming the development to our reporter, via phone chat, on Saturday, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Iseluku Police Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Muhammad Lawal, stated that the matter has been refered to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

    Lawal acknowledged that there are people trying to foil police involvement in the matter but promised to provide update on the matter.
