January 29, 2016 – A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja today turned down request for bail by detained Director, Radio Biafria and leader of Biafra ethnic group, Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu who has been in detention since October when he was arrested has led to protest in Nigeria and oversees, with many calling for his unconditional release.
But at today’s hearing, the trial judge, said Kanu, who is facing trial for alleged treason, must remain in prison custody until his trial.
Kanu has been granted bail twice by Nigerian courts, but the Nigerian government failed to release him on those two occasions.
