    Coronavirus in Nigeria: 284 new 6677, see top 5 affected countries

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 284 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, making a total of 6677 cases of the pandemic in the country.

    Out of the total of 6677 cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, 1840 have recovered and subsequently discharged while 200 people could not make it alive.

    However, a breakdown of the 284 new cases showed that 199 cases were found Lagos, 26 in Rivers, 19 in Oyo, 8 in Abuja, 8 in Borno, 7 in Plateau, 6 in Jigawa, 5 in Kano, 2 in Abia, 1 in Ekiti, 1 in Delta, 1 in Kwara State and 1 in Delta State.

    Globally, there are currently 4, 968, 689 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in the world, while 326, 515 patients have died based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the Centre, the U.S still remains in the lead among the most affected nations in terms of population affected and total number of death. The U.S currently has 1, 549, 052 cases of the pandemic, while 93, 214 patients have died, followed by Russia, the most affected country in Europe in terms of population affected.

    Russia has reported 308, 705 cases of Coronavirus with 2, 972 deaths, followed by Brazil which currently has 271, 628 confirmed cases of the pandemic, while 17, 971 patients have passed on, followed by United Kingdom which has confirmed a total of 249, 616 cases, with 35, 785 deaths.

    Next in the rank of most affected nations is Spain, which has reported 232, 555 confirmed cases while 27, 888 people have died, followed by Italy with 227, 364 confirmed cases, while 32, 330 people infected with the virus have passed on.

    China where the Coronavirus pandemic started from has a total of 84, 063 confirmed cases, 4,638 deaths, while 79, 310 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving China with just 115 cases.
