    Coronavirus in Nigeria: 229 new, 8068, China 112, see top 5

    LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 229 new cases of Coronavirus  in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8068.

    Out of the whole 8068 cases, 2311 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, while 233 others could not make it.

    However, a breakdown of the 229 new cases revealed that 90 cases were found in Lagos, 27 in Katsina, 26 in Imo, 23 in Kano, 14 in Abuja, 12 in Plateau, 9 in Ogun, 7 in Delta, 5 in Borno, 5 in Rivers, 4 in Oyo, 3 in Gombe, 2 in Osun, 1 in Anambra and 1 in Bayelsa State, the NCDC has said of new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

    “@NCDC229 new cases of #COVID19;Lagos-90,  Katsina -27 Imo- 26,  Kano 23-  FCT 14-  Plateau 12 Ogun-9Delta-7, Borno-5, Rivers-5, Oyo-4, Gombe-3, Osun-2, Anambra-1, Bayelsa-1, 8068 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria, Discharged: 2311, Deaths: 233”.

    Globally, there are currently 5,497, 538 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 346, 269 patients have died based on statistics from the Centre for System Sciences and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States still leads among the most affected nations in terms of population affected and the total number of deaths. US currently has 1, 662, 768 confirmed cases, while 98, 223 patients could not make it, followed by Brazil with 374, 898 confirmed cases with 23, 473 deaths.

    Russia, which is next is actually the most affected country in Europe in terms of population affected. Russia currently has 353, 427 confirmed cases with 3, 633 deaths, followed by United Kingdom which has suffered the highest number of deaths in Europe.

    The UK now has 262, 547 confirmed cases with 36, 998 deaths, followed by Spain with 235, 400 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 26, 834 deaths and then Italy, which has recorded 230, 158 confirmed cases with 32,877 deaths.

    China currently has 84, 102 confirmed cases with 4, 638 deaths, while 79, 352 others recovered, leaving China with 112 cases up by one.
