    Coronavirus: 481 new in Nigeria, 126, 911 new in Brazil as global cases cross 17 million

    LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 481 new cases of Coronavirus  bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 42, 689.

    Out of the 42, 689 confirmed cases,  19, 270 patients have recovered, while 878 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 22, 938 active cases.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows,  Abuja-96, Lagos-89, Plateau-68, Ogun-49, Edo-44, Rivers-43, Oyo-25, Osun-23, Delta-15, Enugu-11, Kano-7, Kaduna-7,  Bauchi-2, Bayelsa-1 and  Yobe-1, making a total of 481 new cases of Coronavirus.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov481 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; FCT-96, Lagos-89, Plateau-68, Ogun-49, Edo-44, Rivers-43, Oyo-25, Osun-23, Delta-15, Enugu-11, Kano-7, Kaduna-7,  Bauchi-2, Bayelsa-1, Yobe-1; 42,689 confirmed; 19,270 discharged; 878 deaths”, NCDC said in a statement.

    Globally, the Coronavirus pandemic has continued to show that there is no end in sight with a new record of 17, 219, 767 confirmed cases worldwide,  671,009 deaths, while 10,077, 766 others have recovered, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has said.

    According to the centre, the United States remains the most affected country, documenting  4, 487, 072 confirmed cases,  151, 826 deaths, while 1, 414, 155 others have recovered, leaving the U.S with 2, 921, 091 active cases of the pandemic(85,473 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Brazil, which has reported 2, 610, 102 confirmed cases,  91, 263 deaths, while 1,956, 807 others have recovered, leaving  Brazil with 562,032 active cases of the pandemic(126, 911 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by India which has documented  1, 582, 028 confirmed cases,  34, 956 deaths, while 1,019, 740 patients have recovered, leaving India with 527, 332 active cases of the pandemic(50, 359 new cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Russia with 832, 993 confirmed cases, 13, 778 deaths, while 628,482 patients have recovered, leaving Russia with 190, 733 active cases of the pandemic, followed by South Africa(SA) with 482, 169 confirmed cases,  7, 812 deaths, while 309, 601 patients have been discharged, leaving South Africa with 164, 756 active cases of the virus(11,046 cases in the  last 24 hours).

    Mexico is next with 408, 449 confirmed cases, 45, 361 deaths, while 314, 538 patients have been discharged. Mexico is left with 48, 550 active cases of the pandemic (5,752 cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Peru with 400, 683 confirmed cases,  18, 816 deaths, while 280,044 others have recovered. Peru is left with 101, 823 active cases of Coronavirus, followed by Chile with 353, 536 confirmed cases, 9,377 deaths, while 326, 628 patients have recovered, leaving Chile with 17, 531active cases, followed by  the United Kingdom which has documented  303,910 confirmed cases, 46, 084 deaths, while only 1, 438 patients have been discharged, leaving the U.K with 256, 388 active cases of the pandemic.

    Iran, which is the 10th most affected country has documented 301, 530 confirmed cases, 16, 569 deaths, while 261, 200 others have recovered, leaving Iran with 23, 761 active cases, followed by Spain with 285, 430 confirmed cases, 28, 443 deaths, while 150, 376 patients have recovered, leaving Spain with 106, 611 active cases(2,789 cases in the last 24 hours) and Italy in the 15th spot with 247, 158 confirmed cases, 35, 132 deaths, while 199, 796 others  have recovered, leaving Italy with 12, 230 active cases of the pandemic and then China(26th in the league of most affected country) has reported 87, 363 confirmed cases, 4,659 deaths, while 80, 663 others have recovered, leaving China with  2, 041 active cases, up by 112 new cases.
