    Coronavirus: 155 new and 10, 868 active in Nigeria as India records 90,802 new cases

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 155 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, making a total of 55,160 all time cases.

    But out of the 55,160 confirmed cases,  43,231 patients have been  discharged, while  1,061  others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 10, 868 active cases of Coronavirus.

    Breakdown of the 155 new cases is as follows, Lagos-42 ,  Plateau-25, Rivers-16, Ebonyi-10, Abia-9, Ogun-9, Abuja-9, Osun-7, Katsina-6, Kaduna-6, Ekiti-4, Taraba-4,  Edo-3, Anambra-2, Akwa Ibom-2 and Kano-1, making a total of 155 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov155 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-42 ,  Plateau-25, Rivers-16, Ebonyi-10, Abia-9, Ogun-9, FCT-9, Osun-7, Katsina-6, Kaduna-6, Ekiti-4, Taraba-4,  Edo-3, Anambra-2, Akwa Ibom-2, Kano-1; 55,160 confirmed 43,231 discharged 1,061 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement.

    Meanwhile, a new landmark has been reached in the global statistics, with current number crossing over the 27 million mark.

    So far, there are currently 27, 219, 847 confirmed cases, 890, 260 deaths, while  18, 168, 379 others have been able to overcome the pandemic based on current statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States remains number one when it comes to the most affected countries, reporting 6, 297, 021 all time cases, 189, 140 deaths, while 2, 315, 995 others have recovered , leaving the United States with 3, 791, 886 patients with Coronavirus (26, 071 new cases), followed by India which has  overtaken Brazil to become the second most affected country in the world.

    India, now number 2 has recorded 4, 204, 613 confirmed cases, 71, 642 deaths, while 3, 250, 429 others have been discharged, leaving India with 882, 542 Coronavirus patients (90, 802 new cases), followed by Brazil now number 3 in the world. Brazil has documented 4, 137,521 confirmed cases, 126, 650 deaths while 3, 522, 155 others have been cured, leaving Brazil with 488, 716 patients to treat for Coronavirus (14,521 new cases).

    Russia remains the 4th most afflicted country,  reporting 1,027, 334 all time cases of the pandemic, 17, 818  deaths, while  840, 997 others have been healed, leaving Russia with 168, 519 patients in hospital hoping for the best to get out alive, followed by Peru which has documented 689, 977 all time cases of Coronavirus, 29, 838 deaths,  while 506, 422  others have overcome the pandemic, leaving Peru with 153, 717 active cases of the pandemic(6, 274 new cases), followed by Colombia with 666, 521 confirmed cases, 21, 412 deaths, while 518, 229  others have been discharged, leaving Colombia with  126, 880 active cases of Coronavirus(8,065 new cases).

     South Africa, now number 7 in the league has recorded 639, 362 confirmed cases, 15,004 deaths, while 556, 555 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving South Africa with 67, 803 active cases of Coronavirus(845 new cases), followed by  Mexico in the 7th spot, reporting 634, 023 all time cases, 67, 558 deaths, while 524, 669  others  have been discharged, leaving Mexico with 41, 796 Coronavirus patients(4, 614 new cases),  followed by Spain which has documented 525, 549 all time cases, 29, 516 deaths, while 150, 376 others have been able to overcome the  pandemic, leaving Spain with 345, 657 active cases of the pandemic(26, 560 new cases) .

    Argentina currently occupies the 10th spot with 478, 792  all time cases, 9, 912 deaths and 357,388 recoveries, leaving Argentina with 111, 492 Coronavirus patients(6, 986 new cases), followed by Chile which has reported  424, 274 confirmed cases, 11, 652 deaths and  395, 717 recoveries, leaving Chile with 16, 905 patients in the hospital, hoping to conquer the pandemic(1, 764 new cases), followed by Iran with 388, 810 all time cases,  22, 410 deaths, while 335,572 patients have been given clean bill of health, leaving Iran with 30, 828 active cases of Coronavirus.

    Next is France in number 13with 367, 095 confirmed cases, 30, 732 deaths, while 88, 316 patients have survived the pandemic, leaving France with 248, 047 active cases of the pandemic (19, 827 new cases), followed by United Kingdom in number 14.

    The United Kingdom, which has suffered the highest casualty  in Europe has reported  352, 448 all time cases, 41, 643 deaths while only 1, 824 patients have been assisted to recovery since the first cases was reported in the kingdom, leaving the state with 308, 981 active cases of Coronavirus(2, 943 new cases), followed by Italy with 278, 784 confirmed cases,  35, 553 deaths, while 210, 238 others have been discharged, leaving Italy with 32, 993 active cases of Coronavirus(1, 150 new cases).

    China, where the pandemic was first reported has been pushed to number 35 in the ranks of most affected countries. China has reported 90, 070 confirmed cases, 4, 732 deaths, while 84, 892 others have been able to survive the pandemic, leaving China with 446 Coronavirus patients.
