    Coronavirus: 10, 952 active in Nigeria 176 new as India records 89,706 new cases

    New cases at a glance

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 176 new cases  of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing  total  cases to 55,632.

    Out of the 55,632 all time cases,  43, 610 people have been  discharged  while 1,070  others have been killed by the virus, leaving Nigeria with 10, 952 active cases of Coronavirus.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Abuja -40, Lagos-34,  Plateau-26,  Enugu-14,  Delta-12,  Ogun-12, Ondo-9, Oyo-8,  Ekiti-6,  Ebonyi-4,  Adamawa-2,  Nasarawa-2,  Kwara-2,  Rivers-2 , Edo-1, Osun-1 and Bauchi-1, making 176 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov176 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; FCT-40, Lagos-34,  Plateau-26,  Enugu-14,  Delta-12,  Ogun-12, Ondo-9, Oyo-8,  Ekiti-6,  Ebonyi-4,  Adamawa-2,  Nasarawa-2,  Kwara-2,  Rivers-2 , Edo-1, Osun-1 and Bauchi-1 ; 55,632 confirmed 43,610 discharged 1,070 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement.

    However, there are now 27, 683, 499 confirmed cases globally, 899, 932 deaths, while 18, 601, 849  people have survived the pandemic,  going by the latest statistics from the centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland, United States.

    According to the centre, the United States remains the most afflicted with  6, 354,869 all time cases of Coronavirus, 190, 589 deaths, while 2, 359, 111 others have overcome the pandemic, leaving the U.S with 3, 805, 169 active cases of the virus, (30, 827 new cases) followed  by India, which has documented 4, 370, 128 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 73, 890 deaths, while 3,398, 844 others have survived (89, 706 new cases), leaving India with  897, 394 patients still in need of medical attention to come out alive and then Brazil which has reported 4, 162, 073 all time cases,  127, 464 deaths, while 3, 572,  421 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Brazil with 462, 188 Coronavirus patients to contend with(14, 279 new cases).

    Russia is 4th in the ranks of countries worst hit by the pandemic, reporting 1,037, 526 confirmed cases,  18, 080 deaths and 854, 069 recoveries, leaving Russia with 147, 297   active cases of Coronavirus, followed by Peru with  696,  190 confirmed cases, 30, 123 deaths, while  529, 751 others have been cured, leaving Peru with 136, 316 patients down with the pandemic(4, 615 new cases) , followed by Colombia with 679, 513 confirmed cases,  21, 817 patients have died while 541, 462 others have been able to overcome the pandemic, leaving Colombia with 116, 234 Coronavirus patients(7, 960 new cases).

    Mexico now number 7 among nations worst hit by the pandemic has documented 642, 860 all time cases of Coronavirus, 68, 484 deaths, while 535, 141 others have been healed, leaving Mexico with 39, 235 patients in need of medical attention to get back on their feet(5, 351 new cases), followed by South Africa with 642, 431 confirmed cases, 15, 168 deaths, while 569, 935 others  have been discharged, leaving South Africa with 57, 328  patients to cater for(1,990 new cases) and Spain now 9th in the league with 543,379 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 29, 628 patients have passed on, while 150, 376 others  have recovered, leaving Spain with  363, 375 active cases of Coronavirus(8, 866 new cases).

    Argentina has moved to number 10 in the league with 500,034 all time cases, 10, 457 patients have passed  on, while 382, 490  others  have been cured , leaving Argentina with 107, 087 patients in need of assistance to overcome the pandemic(12, 027 new cases), followed by Chile with 427, 027  all time cases, 11, 702 deaths and 399, 555 recoveries, leaving Chile with 15, 770 active cases of Coronavirus and  Iran, which has reported 393, 425 confirmed cases, 22, 669 deaths, while 339, 111 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Iran with 31, 645  active cases of Coronavirus.

    France is currently the 13 worst hit by the pandemic, reporting 382, 295 all time cases of the pandemic, 30, 800 deaths, while 89, 174 patients have been healed of the virus, leaving France with 262, 321 active cases of the pandemic(8, 577 new cases), followed by  the United Kingdom(14), which has documented 357, 597 all time cases of Coronavirus, 41, 683 patients have died, while only 1, 829 patients have been assisted to recovery, leaving the United Kingdom with 314, 085 patients to manage for Coronavirus(2, 680 new cases) and Italy in number 19 with  281, 583 confirmed cases of the pandemic, 35, 577 people have kicked the bucket, while  211, 272 others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Italy with 34, 734  active cases of Coronavirus(1, 430 new cases).

    China has been pushed to 36th spot in the rank of countries worst hit by the pandemic. China where the pandemic was first reported has documented 90,087 all time cases, 4,733 deaths, while 84,932 others have been discharged, leaving China with 422 active cases of Coronavirus.
