DOULA, Yaounde – Cameroon stood tall in the quarter final encounter with Gambia at the 60,000 capacity Olembe Stadium In Doula, trashing their opponent 2-0 to secure their ticket to the Semi –final clash.

It was the first quarter final clash in the ongoing African Cup of Nations(AFCON) in Cameroon in a game that that ended goal less in the first half.

The very tactical Cameroon side came into the second half of the game very determined to carry the day and their effort paid off  5 minutes into the second half when Karl Toko Ekambi beat the goal keeper to put his team in the 1-0 lead.

He struck again 7 minutes later, making it an impossible task for Gambia to reverse the trend. The team held on to the two goals in that electrifying encounter until the final whistle.

In terms of statistics, Cameroon completely outclassed Gambia with 66 percent ball possession against their opponent, which had just 33 percent.

Cameroon had 7 shots on target against none by Gambia. It secured  5 corner kicks while Gambia had just 2. Cameroon equally had the highest yellow cards, 3 against 1 by Gambia.
